Goa Kotak is a unique tourist destination located on Jalan Pantai Mawi, Sengkol Village, Pujut District, Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Indonesia. This cave is known for its unique shape, different from most other caves, with a box-like form that resembles a room with sharp corners. The cave is man-made, reportedly dug by a group of people hoping to find gold in the hillside. Goa Kotak has a corridor length of about six meters and a width of three meters, composed of yellowish-white rock and clay. It lacks ancient markings, stalactites, or stalagmites, and instead, has a few sea shell remnants on the floor and walls, indicating its location in the tidal area (submerged during high tide). The cave’s height is about 2.5 meters. From this cave, visitors can also enjoy views of Bukit Merese, Tanjung Aan Beach, and Batu Payung Beach from a distance. Goa Kotak can be accessed by two or four-wheeled vehicles, but caution is advised due to the steep terrain.
